• Steep Falls Public Library: Hours are Tuesday and Wednesday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to noon. A free story hour for toddlers and preschool children is held Wednesday at 10 a.m. Story hour is free and open to the public.

• Active Senior Citizens of Standish holds meetings the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 11 a.m. at the Steep Falls Fire Barn. Lunch is $3 and reservations are required before 9 a.m. the Monday prior to the meeting. To reserve a spot, call Alvida at 642-4929 or June at 727-6215.

• A Caregiver’s Support Group meets the second Wednesday of each month at the Bridgton Community Center from 1:30 to 3 p.m. This discussion group is sponsored by the Southern Maine Agency on Aging and the Alzheimer’s Association. • American Legion Standish Memorial Post 128 meets every second and fourth Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Kiwanis Beach Road Club House on Route 25 in Standish. All veterans, past and present, are welcome.

• The Windham Fire Department sponsors a child car seat inspection every third Wednesday of the month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the North Windham Fire Station. FMI 892-1912.

April 28: A public bean supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Windham Hill United Church of Christ, 140 Windham Center Road in Windham. Menu includes hot dogs, three varieties of baked beans, potato salad, tossed salad, macaroni and cheese, dinner rolls, homemade pies, coffee, tea and punch. Price is $6 for adults, $2.50 for children 12 and under.

April 28: New Orleans style buffet dinner fundraiser for Mission II trip to New Orleans for disaster relief. Serving traditional foods, jambalaya, gumbo, cornbread, muffelettas, pecan pie and more. April 29: Schoolhouse Arts Center at Sebago Lake is holding auditions for its annual Spring Variety Show on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Come prepared to perform your act. May 2, 3: Amid the many activities of the ending school year, students at Windham High School will be performing their first springtime dramatic performance. Under the direction of Jon Miele, “The Crucible” opens on May 2 with a cast of dozens of Windham and Raymond students. Performances will be held at the Windham Performing Arts Center at Windham High School on Route 202. Performances are May 2 and 3 at 7:30 p.m. & May 5 at 2 & 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and youth/students. Ticket sales begin one hour prior to each show. May 3: The public is invited to join Fiddlehead Center for the Arts in celebration of the grand opening at its new location at 25 Shaker Road in Gray. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at noon and our open house will begin at 6:30 p.m. They have made an investment of more than $1.5 million dollars into the purchase, renovation and transformation of the new after-school arts and sciences facility.
