Scarborough Public Works and Bartlett Tree Experts will offer a tree-pruning class Tuesday, April 24, from 6-7:30 p.m. This class will be held at Scarborough Town Hall in the Council Chambers and is open to the general public at no cost. Weather permitting, the class will venture outside for some hands-on experience.
Instructor is Tim Lindsay; Bartlett Tree Experts licensed arborist and presenter at the 2007 New England Spring Flower Show in Boston. The class includes instruction and demonstration of structural pruning of young trees, with topics covering proper tools and safety and proper techniques and concepts.
Proper pruning provides a strong framework for future growth. Pruning young trees can prevent structural problems that could require cabling and bracing.
