Two Westbrook High School seniors have been honored for academic achievements.
Zachary Jobin has been selected as a finalist for a National Merit Scholarship. This award, sponsored by the National Merit Program, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s outstanding academic achievement.
Eben Perkins has won the Maine Principals’ Association’s 2007 Principal’s Award. The award is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
Westbrook High School Principal March Gousse had high praise for both students.
“Zach is an extremely gifted student who excels academically particularly in the areas of math and science,” he said. “We are very proud of Zach. He deserves each and every accolade bestowed upon him.”
“Eben has distinguished himself in all facets of Westbrook High School’s academic and extra-curricular offerings,” said Gousse. “He consistently models the qualities of scholarship, leadership and service. In all that he strives to accomplish and achieve, Eben sets the standard for excellence and integrity.”
Jobin currently holds a grade point average of 96.3, and is active in a variety of clubs and service organizations at Westbrook High School. In addition to these accomplishments Jobin is also a volunteer youth football coach, recipient of a foreign language award, and is vice president of the Interact club. He is the son of Mark and Carolyn Jobin of Westbrook.
Perkins, along with Gousse and other award winners and their principals, will attend an honors luncheon at the Bangor Civic Center on Saturday, April 7.
The award is presented in more than 140 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
