Bushmaster Firearms International, LLC, Inc. of Windham has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Army totaling $5.4 million.

The contact is for the production of 5,500 Bushmaster rifles and additional equipment. All work related to this contract will be done in Maine. The contract is expected to be completed by November of this year.

“I am pleased that the Army has awarded this contract to a Maine company,” said Sen. Susan Collins. “The Army continues to look at Bushmaster for state-of-the-art equipment on which our military relies.”

Bushmaster Firearms is headquartered on Route 302 in the Windham Business Park, and employs more than 140 people.
