Windham Book Club meeting

The Book Club at Windham Public Library will meet March 27 to discuss actor Sidney Poitier’s autobiography, The Measure of a Man. In addition, in honor of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s 200th birthday, some of his poems will be read and participants will share their thoughts.

The public is invited to join the Library Book Club at any of their regular monthly meetings.

On April 24, the book choice is The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon. Nani Power from the Washington Post says, “It’s midnight, and an autistic 15-year old boy is sitting on the lawn, holding his neighbor’s dead dog, covered with blood. The neighbor runs out screaming, police arrive, the boy hits a policeman and ends up in jail. Thus begins a jolting spiral of events in the life of one of this year’s most memorable characters, Christopher John Francis Boone, the narrator of Mark Haddon’s debut novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.”

Brought to you with a mini-grant from Southern Maine Agency on Aging, the group will meet each second Wednesday of the month and will be facilitated by Dona Forke, local resident. There is no charge and refreshments will be served. Please call for more information or RSVP at 693-4545.
