Ongoing events:

• Steep Falls Public Library: Hours are Tuesday and Wednesday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Story hour for toddlers and preschool children is held Wednesday at 10 a.m. Story hour is free and open to the public.

• Active Senior Citizens of Standish holds meetings the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 11 a.m. at the Steep Falls Fire Barn. Lunch is $3 and reservations are required before 9 a.m. the Monday prior to the meeting. To reserve a spot, call Alvida at 642-4929 or June at 727-6215.

• American Legion Standish Memorial Post 128 meets every second and fourth Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Kiwanis Beach Road Club House on Route 25 in Standish. All veterans, past and present, are welcome.

Upcoming events:

March 1-31: Curves for Women in Windham is holding its annual food drive during the month of March. Women may join March 1 through the 10th with no service charge -based on an annual contract- when they bring in a full bag of groceries. For those not wishing to join, Curves will be accepting non-perishable, healthy food donations throughout the entire month. At the end of March, all food will be donated to the Windham Food Pantry.

March 8 and beyond: March Computer Classes at Bonny Eagle Adult Education include “Buying & Selling on eBay” on Thursday, March 8-29, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Fee: $38; “Introduction to Excel” on Tuesday, March 13-April 3. March 10: The Windham High School band will be holding a bottle drive to raise money for a field trip to New York in April for a music festival. Call Colleen Norberg at 893-8299 to schedule pick-up of bottles.

March 10: Italian Dinner to benefit Boy Scout Troop 800 at the Raymond Village Community Church on Main Street in Raymond. 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Snow date March 17. Lasagna, Baked Ziti, Meatballs, Salads, Desserts. $6 each or a family of (4) $20.

March 11: Come celebrate Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s 200th birthday with a poetry reading by Allen Crabtree at Spaulding Memorial Library in Sebago. The library is celebrating the life and achievements of the boy from Maine who became America’s most beloved poet. March 17: The Windham Land Trust is sponsoring a family fun afternoon at Windham Primary School cafeteria from1 to 4 p.m. Fun for the whole family (children must be accompanied by adult). $5 per person (under 5 is free). March 18: Rug-Hooking for Beginners at Casco Public Library from 2 to 4 p.m. This workshop will teach the basics for making your own rug. There will be six kits available ($55 each), which participants will be able to finish on their own. If you don’t choose to buy a kit, there will be plenty of opportunity to practice. March 31: There will be an indoor yard sale at Jordan Small Middle School in Raymond from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is a benefit organized by a sixth grade community service class to help the Leukemia Foundation.
