Shawnee Peak was host to the 16th annual Russ Haggett Memorial Race, sponsored by Down East Ski Club, Feb. 24, 2007. The race proceeds benefit the Russ Haggett Memorial Scholarship Fund which provides $1,000 scholarships for two Lake Region High School Seniors.

An annual contribution of $1,000 is needed to keep the scholarship fund viable. Between the race registrations, donations from Down East Ski Club members, and area ski enthusiasts, the goal was again met this year.

The Down East Ski Club would like to thank Ed Rock, Melissa Rock, and Chet Homer for sponsoring the race. We would also like to thank June Gyger, Dan Gyger, the Shawnee Peak crew as well as all the race participants and donors for their support.
