Editor,

I am writing this in memory of my daughter Peggy L. Taylor, of Windham. My daughter would have been 25 years old this week – no more candles for her to blow out – but maybe a wish that other young adults will get help.

Get off drugs and methadone. I know it is hard to quit, but you need to realize this high that you’re getting from pills, heroin and methadone is going to kill you some day.

I told everyone the day of my daughter’s funeral that I hoped they would think hard before using drugs because parents, friends, children and loved ones are left behind with the loss.

There are programs that can help. Mercy Rehab in Westbrook is good and also has a “family and friend” day that helps. I would only recommend the Cap Quality Care in Westbrook for those who will not abuse it.

I know it is hard to quit because my daughter did more than once. Please don’t let the drugs take control of you. You take control of the drugs and love your children, friends and parents. It’s hard but you can fight the drug and save your life.

You will always be in my prayers. We all miss you.

A memory from your mom,

Micky Taylor
