Everyone will be Freezin’ for a Reason as Camp Sunshine hosts the Second Annual A.J.’s Plunge at the Point Sebago Resort on March 3 2 p.m.

The goal, say event organizers, is to raise in excess of $50,000. That is enough to send more than 32 Maine families to Camp Sunshine.

The plunge’s namesake, A.J. Cincotta-Eichenfield (12) was literally born into Camp Sunshine. It is his second home and he is as much a part of camp as the concrete in the floors. He is the son of Psychosocial Director Nancy Cincotta and Medical Director Andrew Eichenfield. He has seen thousands of families with ill children come through the doors of Camp Sunshine and has made many friends along the way.

This year’s plunge will take place just one day before his birthday, a day when typically most kids are thinking about a cake or party. But once again, A.J. Cincotta-Eichenfield felt there will be no better way to jumpstart the festivities than by plunging into 32-degree water!

Last year, A.J.’s enthusiasm for the event, and what he could accomplish, inspired Camp Sunshine’s founder Anna Gould to generously match all donations he collected. In all, A.J. and 65 other plungers raised more than $40,000.
