The Casco Public Library is holding a series of winter workshops for adults and older teens throughout the next few months. Workshops are held Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m. unless otherwise noted. For more information on the series call the library at 627-4541.
Feb. 4:
EXPLORING POETRY
Poetry teacher and enthusiast, Jean Pottle-Polland, will lead a workshop on various forms of poetry. Feel free to bring some of your favorite poems to share (including ones you may have written.)
Friday, Feb. 9:
MAKE A BAT HOUSE
Technical Education teacher, Trevor Tidd, will guide participants
through the construction of a bat house. Get a head start on mosquito control. Please call to register.
Feb. 18:
MAKING SUSHI
Vegetarian culinary expert, Lisa Willey, will teach the techniques for rolling sushi. It isn’t necessary to include raw fish to enjoy these healthy treats.
Feb. 25:
SOWING SEEDS & AFTERCARE
Pam Edwards will discuss methods for planting success. She will share her vegetable garden indoor planting schedule and cover special techniques for starting plants of the heath family (rhododendrons, etc.) Participants will be provided the opportunity to sow heath family seeds.
March 4:
BREATHING FOR HEALTH
Kripalu certified yoga teacher, Terri Young, will teach basic breathing techniques for reducing stress and enhancing health. This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who has been curious about how to incorporate this proven practice into their lives.
March 11:
FLORAL DESIGN
Create your own arrangement with the help of professional florist, Jessica Fay, owner of Raymond Village Florist. $15 charge for materials.
March 18:
RUG-HOOKING
Natalie Sanborn, member of Tin Pedlars & Mainely Woods Hooking Guild, will once again demonstrate rug-hooking techniques. This year there will be kits available to start your own. Please call for info.
March 25:
FLY-TYING
Back by popular demand, Dave Morton will once again teach this functional and beautiful craft. Dave will provide all the necessary tools and supplies.
April 1:
PLANTING AN EDIBLE GARDEN
Holly Ihloff will show how to design a garden that will delight all the senses – enticing smells, lovely sights, delicious flavors.
