The Casco Veterans Memorial Committee is fundraising for the purchase of a Veterans Memorial to be erected on the Casco Village Green.

The goal is to raise $20,000 for the purchase of a monument that will be engraved with the names of all Casco Veterans who served from World War I to present. Veterans who served prior to World War I will have honorable mention on the monument. The monument can accommodate 320 names on each side.

The committee, started by Eleanor Mains of Casco, needs the public’s help in gathering names for the memorial. If you or someone you know from Casco served in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Desert Storm, or the war in Iraq, please contact Eleanor Mains at 655-4845. Eligible Veterans must have lived in Casco at the time of their entrance into the military.

The Casco Veterans Memorial Committee is also looking for public support in the form of tax-deductible donations in order to reach the goal of $20,000 needed for the memorial. If anyone wishes to make a contribution, please send a check made payable to “Veterans’ Memorial Fund” to: Banknorth Casco, P.O. Box 130, Casco, ME 04015, or for more information, contact Eleanor Mains at 655-4845.
