Shawnee Peak Ski Area will host a Snow Mountain Bike Race on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 5 p.m. The race, run for the sixth year in a row, is sponsored by Ernie’s Cycle Shop of in Westbrook.

“Hosting the event under the lights highlights the appeal of nighttime events,” said Melissa Rock, director of marketing at Shawnee Peak. “Riders will have a whole new atmosphere for riding and competing!

More than 100 racers are anticipated for this unique event. Racers speed down Boardercross style – four at a time – and the top two racers from each heat goes on to the next heat.

Race registration is 2-4 p.m. Practice runs start at 4 p.m. and the event starts at 5 p.m. Registration is $25 – which includes an all-day lift ticket, prizes and the race. Ernie’s Cycle Shop will provide plenty of prizes.
