Steep Falls Public Library: Hours are Tuesday & Wednesday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Story hour for toddlers and preschool children is held Wednesday at 10 a.m. Story hour is free and open to the public.

Active Senior Citizens of Standish holds meetings the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 11 a.m. at the Steep Falls Fire Barn. Lunch is $3 and reservations are required before 9 a.m. the Monday prior to the meeting. To reserve a spot, call Alvida at 642-4929 or June at 727-6215.

Jan. 20: Roast Beef Supper at the Sebago Lake Congregational Church, Route 35 in Sebago Lake Village. Serving times 5 & 6 p.m. $7.50 for adults, $4.50 for children. All you can eat. Menu includes roast beef, gravy, mashed potatoes, green beens, cole slaw, Italian bread, assorted desserts. For reservations call 642-4911. Reservations are not necessary!

Jan. 20: Shawnee Peak to Host 6th Annual Snow Mountain Bike Race starting at 5 p.m. More than 100 racers are anticipated for this unique event. Racers speed down boardercross style – four at a time – and the top two racers from each heat goes on to the next heat. This style of race guarantees thrills, spills and an exciting event! Registration is 2 to 4 p.m. Practice runs start at 4 p.m. and the event starts at 5 p.m. Registration is $25, which includes an all day lift ticket, prizes and the race. Sponsor Ernie’s Cycle Shop in Westbrook will provide prizes. 4pm and the event starts at 5pm. Registration is $25 – which includes an all day lift ticket, prizes and the race! Jan. 21: From 2 to 4 p.m., Casco Public Library will have a workshop entitled “Helping Your Kids in School.” Experienced teacher and educational researcher, Reed Dyer, will lead a discussion about working with your child’s teacher and school to maximize your child’s success.

Jan. 24: Saint Joseph’s College hosts an information session, “Earn Your MBA Online,” about its graduate business degree at Portland Harbor Hotel, 468 Fore Street, in Portland from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Free parking. FMI 1-800-752-4723.

Feb. 3: To beat the winter blues, the Limington Extension is holding an Indoor Yard Sale from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Limington Town Hall on Route 11 in Limington. There will be many new Valentine gifts, toys, candy as well as things for St. Patrick’s Day in addition to many tables of new and used yard sale items. Hundreds of new items for 25 cents each. Feb. 11: From 2 to 4 p.m. Casco Public Library Winter Workshops will present Growing Fruit in the Home Landscape. Richard Brzozowski from the Cooperative Extension will offer advice about growing a variety of fruits in your own yard. Topic will cover pruning and pest control. FMI call 627-4541.
