The South Portland and Cape Elizabeth Community Chamber is seeking individuals or companies to sponsor scholarships. The goal is to expand the scholarship program and provide more opportunities for Greater Portland students to go on to higher education.
Scholarship applications are distributed to all high schools within the Greater Portland Region and all South Portland/Cape Elizabeth members. Students are required to be recommended by a South Portland/Cape Elizabeth Community Chamber member to be eligible for the scholarship.
The sponsorship will allow the donor to name the scholarship; be recognized at the South Portland/Cape Elizabeth Community Chamber’s Annual Meeting, the high schools’ awards nights and chamber newsletter; and to personally present the scholarship to the recipient at the annual meeting.
The cost to sponsor a scholarship is a minimum of $500 for one year, up to $2,000 for the full four-year scholarship. The scholarship committee will review all applicants and award the best-qualified students.
The organization is looking for sponsorship commitments by May 15, to be included in this year’s awards. Those with questions can call Greg Goforth, 774-6151, or Martina Duncan, 772-2811.
