Two Westbrook men were released from Maine Medical Center this week after a brush with the tardy Old Man Winter.
Shortly after 9 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Kosal Duong, 29 and Ver Soriya, 24, were driving on Falmouth Road when their new 2007 Nissan skidded on some ice.
Windham Police Sgt. David Thomas said Duong was driving too fast for the icy conditions when the truck “nose-dived into the soft shoulder” and landed upside-down in a brook. The cab was underwater and the two men escaped out one of the rear quad-cab doors.
Duong suffered a laceration to the head and both were treated for mild hypothermia. Both men were wearing seat belts.
Thomas said the two men were lucky they weren’t knocked unconscious and trapped in the submerged cab.
