Steep Falls Public Library: Hours are Tuesday & Wednesday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Story hour for toddlers and preschool children is held Wednesday at 10 a.m. Story hour is free and open to the public.

Dec. 23: Stone Mountain Arts Center, located at 695 Dugway Road in Brownfield is holding a Christmas party starting at 5 p.m. FMI 1-866-227-6523.

Dec. 27: The Steep Falls Public Library presents Dennis Labbe and his Magical Wonders from 10 to 11 a.m. The show is free and open to the public.

Dec. 31: Stone Mountain Arts Center, located at 695 Dugway Road in Brownfield, is holding its New Year’s Eve Costume Bash. Tickets include appetizers, sweets and a champagne toast at midnight. Tunes spun by DJ Jazzy Brad. Prizes will be awarded for best costume; the theme is movies. FMI 1-866-227-6523.

Jan. 5: Rev. David Thorp of Faith Lutheran Church, 988 Roosevelt Trail, Windham, will share his experiences with his family, as a missionary in Peru for 10 years. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. at the church. Everyone welcome, refreshments provided. For more information, call 892-3769.

Jan. 6: Bean Supper at Steep Falls Library, 4:30 to 6 p.m., cost is $6/adult & $3/child.

Jan. 8: Acting classes at Warren Memorial Library in Westbrook. Teacher/actor David La Graffe leads stimulating acting classes to nurture strong acting ability, imagination and expressivity. Creative Dramatics (ages 6-8) Mondays 4-5 p.m., Jan. 8-March 12 (No class Feb. 5 and 26). On Stage (ages 9-12) at 9-10:30 a.m. and Actors’ Workshop at 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Both are scheduled for Saturdays, Jan. 13-March 17 (No classes Feb 3 & 24). Cost is $80/student. Jan. 11: Portland String Quartet Opens 2007 Noonday Concerts at Portland Conservatory of Music starting at 12:15 p.m. The String Quartet Recital program is entitled “The Fugue from Bach to Mendelssohn and beyond.”
