Two Global Village classes at Bonny Eagle High School have studied conflict and human rights violations that have been going on in Darfur, Sudan as a part of their unit on Africa.

Global Village teacher Robert Maxwell and the students came up with the idea that they should write letters to United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan urging that more be done to help victims of violence and displacement in Darfur. Students drafted, edited, and then turned in final drafts of their letters to be mailed to the United Nations in New York.

The letters were presented to Bonny Eagle High School Amnesty International Club whose members are going to mail the letters to the United Nations. The goal of the class, according to Amnesty Advisor David Ezhaya, is to get the students to think more globally.
