Time Warner Cable subscribers who have just switched over from Adelphia, may lose CBS affiliate WGME, Channel 13 at the end of the month.
In the Lakes Region, former Adelphia customers in Windham could be affected.
Nationally, Time Warner Inc. acquired Adelphia Communications in July. The buyout has caused Time Warner to renegotiate with a few companies, including Sinclair Broadcast Group that owns WGME, according to Peter Dewitt, spokesperson for Time Warner of Maine and New Hampshire.
Dewitt said the negotiations are going on nationally, not just for WGME.
“We’re hopeful that we’ll have a good resolution by the end of this month,” said Dewitt.
Dewitt said that about 140,000 Time Warner customers would be affected in Maine if the negotiations do not work out. He added that two-thirds of them would be able to view CBS programs through other affiliates, WBZ-TV of Boston, WABI of Bangor or WCAX of Vermont.
CBS programming includes such popular programs as Survivor, Without a Trace, The Amazing Race, 60 Minutes, The Young and the Restless and Two and a Half Men. National Football League games are also aired on CBS, including most New England Patriots games as well as the Super Bowl in February.
