On Nov. 2, Domino’s Pizza in Standish and the Standish Fire Department joined forces to promote fire prevention.

Domino’s Pizza surprised a few residents at the door when their pizza arrived via fire engine and were greeted by a Domino’s delivery driver as well as a Standish Fire Captain, and received free pizza for allowing the firefighters to test the smoke alarms and replace the batteries.

“Fire safety is very important,” said Mike Mullen, franchisee of Domino’s Pizza in Standish. “We were thrilled to work with the fire department once again on a program to promote the safety to our friends and neighbors and to reward those who make fire safety a priority.”

“The End of Daylight Savings Time is another landmark time of year to change the batteries on your smoke detector,” said Martin Jordan, Standish Fire Chief. “Working smoke detectors save lives, but many people forget to maintain the batteries. We are excited to be working with Domino’s Pizza to promote vital fire safety precautions by rewarding residents who have working smoke detectors with pizza.”
