The winner of the House District 102 race between incumbent Gary Moore and Democratic challenger Michael Shaw remained undecided Monday night after a recount of the ballots in Augusta.
Shaw, who won by 13 votes on Election Day, appeared to be trailing at times during the recount, according to Standish Town Clerk Mary Chapman.
Chapman said the deputy secretary of state called her late Monday afternoon to inform her that there was no determined winner and that a second recount would be conducted next Monday, Nov. 27.
Monday’s recount involved officials at the Secretary of State’s office as well as six counters picked by each candidate. Both Moore and Shaw were present.
Today’s recount was automatically triggered when Shaw won by less than 1 percent of the vote.
