Editor,
Once again I would like to thank all my hardworking and dedicated election workers. They are a great bunch to work with, and this election really showed how capable they are when things get really busy. Between the absentee votes being cast that day and those who came in person on Election Day, we had 6,672 people vote in Windham.
That is 59 percent of the registered voters in town and I think one of the highest turnouts, except for a Presidential election. My own office staff was terrific. For two weeks before the election our entire days consisted of absentee voting and everything that goes along with it.
They were so wonderful in helping get everything ready for Election Day. They worked so hard and never complained. I would also like to thank all of you at Windham High School that I have to deal with in making this election happen. You are all so easy to get along with and accommodating to me, it really means a lot. I want to thank the men who came to help with traffic control; traffic started to back up later in the day.
Thanks to the Middle School who prepared all of our meals. They were delicious, even though most of us did not get to eat supper until the polls were closed, and last but not least, for Town Hall’s maintenance crew, if it were not for them we would be in big trouble. They are the ones that get the gym set up with all the booths, tables and everything else needed to pull this off. To all of you, thank you.
Linda Morrell,
Town Clerk
