At about 10:30 p.m., Republican Darlene Curley conceded the U.S House of Representatives District 1 race to Democrat U.S. Rep. Tom Allen.
This is Allen’s sixth term as a U.S. Representative, coming away with 64 percent of the vote after 28 percent of the precincts reported results. Curley had 27 percent of the vote and Green Independent Dexter Kamilewicz had 9 percent.
“It was a great campaign and a great race,” said Curley’s campaign manager Pat Adler. “We couldn’t be happier.”
After winning his first election in 1996 with 55 percent of the vote, Allen has won by 60 percent or more each election since.
