The annual meeting of the Windham Historical Society was held Oct. 23 at the Friends Church and a potluck supper was enjoyed by those attending. Officers elected for 2007 are Ann Hawkes Paquin, president; Sandra Vacchiano, treasurer; Emma Gilman, corresponding secretary; Kay Soldier, recording secretary and Ernest Nichols, auditor. Kay Soldier will continue as Historian/Curator.

Third-graders from Windham Primary School presented a quilt to the historical society at its annual meeting. The quilt is made up of squares reflecting thoughts and impressions the school children had after going on their history tour of the town. Windham history is a part of the third-grade curriculum. The quilt will be on display at various events in which the Society is involved.

The Society at 234 Windham Center Road will be open to the public on Saturdays through November from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thereafter, for the winter season, it will be open by appointment only.

A tour of some of Windham’s oldest and most interesting graveyards takes place on Saturday, Nov. 28. Those wishing to go on the tour are advised to meet at the Society at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The donation for this event is $12. which will be used to benefit the Parson Smith House acquisition effort.
