Some 350 children and adults poured into the Scarborough Public Library Oct. 25 to see John David Sparks and his rescued animals. Since it was a sunny day, and since the meeting room was filled beyond capacity, Sparks, his animals and the audience moved outside on the lawn for the program.

Sparks, who owns an animal rehabilitation center called Sparks’ Ark, brought all sorts of critters, each individually caged and covered. There was a ferret, a chinchilla, an owl, a snake, a skunk and an oppossum. With each animal, he gave some background as well as information on how to handle an injured animal.

The Freaky Bean Coffee Co. provided hot chocolate and snacks.
