Halloween on Main Street

The Westbrook Community Chamber will present “Halloween on Main Street,” from 4:30-6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27.

Dressed in costumes, children of all ages will trick or treat at downtown businesses.

Main Street will be closed to traffic at 4 p.m.

Seniors meet to eat; hear weathermen

Westbrook Senior Citizens will meet at noon on Monday, Oct. 16, at Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St., for a roast pork meal.

Marc Mailhot of Westbrook, a retired Emergency Management Agency meteorologist for Cumberland County, and Tom Chisholm, WMTW TV Channel 8 meteorologist, will speak.

Annual Living Rosary at St. Hyacinth’s

The Sodality of St. Anne of St. Anthony’s Parish in Westbrook is sponsoring the annual Living Rosary of Nations for Religious Vocations and World Peace at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15, at St. Hyacinth’s Church on Brown Street.

The candlelight Rosary will be said in several languages by priests, sisters and parishioners, representing 13 area parishes. Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament will follow with the Rev. Reginald Brissette officiating.

Everyone is invited to attend this special event. A reception will follow.

Gilpatrick on dean’s list

Alicia Gilpatrick was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Babson College in Wellesley, Mass.

Woman’s club plans guest day

The Westbrook Woman’s Club will host its “Guest Day” at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at the Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St.

The meeting is open to women of all ages, who have a desire to become involved in their community through charitable and community improvement activities. Refreshments will be served following the meeting.

The club, an affiliate of the international General Federation of Women’s Clubs, began the fall season with a potluck luncheon and jewelry making demonstration on Oct. 3.

Members of the club will soon be calling area businesses to take orders for the annual Lobster Roll Box Lunch to be prepared Wednesday, Nov. 8. The annual project raises funds for the scholarships that the club gives annually to Westbrook High School students.
