Army Sgt. 1st Class James R. McDuffie has arrived for duty at the U.S. Army Recruiting Station, Bay City, Mich.

McDuffie, a company recruiter trainer with 10 years of military service, is assigned to the Great Lakes Recruiting Battalion.

He is the son of Ann McDuffie of Englewood, Fla. His wife, Elizabeth, is the daughter of Leo and Claudette Begonia of South Portland.

McDuffie is a 1992 graduate of Portland High School.
