Apples abound through Maine in September and October. Below is a guide where visitors can pick their own apples and enjoy cider and treats made from fresh Maine apples.

Pick your own apples availability: Mid-August through early September – early Macintosh and Paulareds; September through mid October – Macintosh and Cortland; mid-September through October – Macoun, Spencer and Golden Delicious. Picking hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

The farm also features a store, picnic area, apple sling shot, and will host a Sept. 9 concert by Rick Charette and a Family Bluegrass Festival on Sept. 30.

The farm is located in South Hiram. Take Route 25 to Cornish and turn on to Bridge Street, by the library. From Bridge Street, turn left on to Durgintown Road.

Douglas Hill Orchard, Sebago

Come enjoy the panoramic White Mountain views while picking your own apples, pears and pumpkins. Pre-picked apples, pumpkins, gourds and cider also available. Groups are welcome.

The orchard is loacted in Sebago, near Douglas Mountain hiking. Follow signs from Route 107 to Orchard Road. Open daily from sun-up to sun-down.

The farm is located in South Bridgton at 720 South Bridgton Road, six miles south of Bridgton, eight miles north of Naples on Route 107.
