A 22-year-old suspect in a Buxton home invasion, who was apparently injured in the attack, was nabbed in Biddeford last week, according to police.

Buxton police Officer Jason McClure arrested David Nanos, whose last known address was in Portland at the Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford on Thursday. Nanos was charged with attempted murder, burglary and criminal threatening with a firearm and taken to York County Jail in Alfred.

McClure said the court set bail Monday at $50,000 cash. He said Nanos was still incarcerated Tuesday.

Police are trying to identify the second male suspect who remains at large. McClure said it’s still early in the investigation, which is still ongoing.

Buxton officers Kenneth Brislin, Paul Rubashkin and McClure were called at 11:13 p.m. on April 26 to 48 Parker Farm Road in Buxton where gunfire had erupted. Resident Mark Luxton told police he was in bed when he heard two men at his door. He said the men yelled at him and kicked in his door.

Luxton alleges that one of them fired several shots into his bedroom and he returned fire. The police report said that Luxton’s pit bull was shot in the chest during the exchange of gunfire.

Blood at the scene indicated that one of the suspects might have been injured and Buxton police notified hospitals in the surrounding area.

About 1 a.m. Thursday, Biddeford police called Buxton reporting that a hospital was treating a man with a possible gunshot wound to his right hand.

Biddeford police secured a vehicle in the hospital parking lot until Buxton police arrived.

Buxton Officer Frank Pulsoni took the wounded dog to the Emergency Animal Hospital on Warren Avenue in Portland. McClure said the dog is expected to make a full recovery and was in the care of his owner yesterday.

McClure declined to reveal information about the guns used in the home invasion. Deputies from the York County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the investigation, collecting evidence at the Buxton home and surrounding area.
