A two vehicle accident in front of Maine Medical Center on Route one in Scarborough Tuesday at about noon sent two people to the hospital, including a three year-old girl. On right, Rescue worker Caroline Harden and others hoist the girl onto a stretcher before bringing her to the ambulance. Police said the girl was not seriously injured; she suffered a bump on her head. The driver of a four door sedan, Elizabeth Coughlin, of Scarborough was also sent away in an ambulance. Coughlin was turning left onto Route one from Maine Medical Center and was struck by a van traveling northbound. Police said the sedan spun around in a 360 degree turn before stopping. It also looks like one of the vehicles ran a red light, though which one is still undetermined, said officer Doug Weed. Coughlin’s husband, Kenny recognized his wife’s car on his way to lunch and pulled over to make sure she was ok. Kenny Coughlin said his wife was conscious, but complaining that her back hurt.
