Season Highlight Winning the state meet.

Seniors Brad Bolton, David Carl, Evan Embrey, Eric Favreau, Greg Gadbois, Jeff Konan, Ben Roy, Josh Seal, Shawn Smith and John Wiechman.

Awards MVP: Ben Roy, who set a state record in the hurdles; Bruce Dokowski Sportsmanship Award: Eric Favreau; Most Improved and Most Dedicated: the entire team.

Coach’s Comment “The turning point was the meet with Thornton, Scarborough and Cheverus. We had young kids come through, and it showed that we could compete with quality teams.”

Girls Indoor Track

2006 Record 9-3

Coach John Turrell

Season Highlight Our record of 9 – 3 was the best record in the history of Bonny Eagle girls indoor track. We had the fourth best record in the SMAA and we placed fifth in the Maine State Championship Meet, which the highest we have ever place. We had four girls place at the Maine State Meet, and these four girls then qualified to compete at the New England Track & Field Championships in Boston.

Coach’s Comment It was a very exciting and record setting season of the Bonny Eagle indoor girls’ track team. We had nine new Bonny Eagle school records set. We had competitive athletes in every event. We only had three seniors. Even though these seniors are among the top track athletes in the state, we have many outstanding underclassmen so we look forward to another outstanding season next year.

Boys Ice Hockey

2006 Record League 11-8-0; Overall 15-11-1

Season Highlight Every player (except our goalie) scored at least one goal and our top scorer put

in more goals than our entire team the previous year!

Coach’s Comment This was a record-breaking season for us as a program; and with no seniors on this

year’s team, we have some awesome potential for next season.

Wrestling

2006 Record We finished 16-8, 3rd in the region, 10-1 in the SMAA.

Season Highlight Three placed at states: Dalton Groeger, 3rd at 103; Bobby Dedovic, 3rd at 119; Jarred Stiles, 4th at 145. We have everyone back except Jack Lovell

at 130.

Coach’s Comment The season was long and hard. I was disappointed with our postseason, but we have a young and inexperienced team – inexperience being more of a factor. Next year we should be tough with a lot of returnees and a solid frosh class coming up from the middle school.

Coach’s Comment Even though we didn’t place as well in our competitions as we had hoped, our team worked incredibly well together. The team was focused and made great improvements over the course of the season. I’m very proud of them.

Girls Basketball

2006 Record 10-8 Regular Season; 1-1 Playoffs

Coach Marc Sawyer

Season Highlight Avenging a regular season loss to Kennebunk with an overtime victory in the playoffs after trailing by as many as 13 points. In the fourth quarter, we came back to tie the game at 37 at the end of regulation. We eventually won the game in overtime, 42-41.

Coach’s Comment I thought we had a very good year. We set goals to finish .500 and to make it to the Civic Center. We finished 11-9 and we lost in the quarterfinals to the eventual state champ. It was the first time in eight seasons that the Bonny Eagle girls basketball team had been to the Civic Center. With several juniors returning, we hope to continue the improvement into next year.

Coach’s Comment “A season of ups and downs highlighted by last-second wins over Windham and Sanford. An overtime loss to Kennebunk, a team that we had defeated earlier, was a frustration as was the need for disciplinary action on more than one occasion.”

Swimming

2006 Record The girls were 4th in regional meet; the boys had a very small squad

Season Highlight The girls finished 4th at South Southwesterns just 5.5 points out of third even though we were behind 20-25 points in the seeds. For the boys, Corey McGrath finished ninth in the 50 freestyle and 11th in the 100 freestyle at states.

Coach’s Comment “Stephanie Pion and Katie Cuddle placed in individual events. Hannah won a state title in the 100 butterfly and won in that and the 200-yard individual medley at the New Englands. We had an awesome season. I’m sad it’s over.”
