Complaints

On Jan. 30 at about 3 p.m., I, Officer Gaudette, met with a representative of a local service station regarding stolen gas. The owner of a green Ford pick-up had put $10 worth of gas in the vehicle and drove off.

On Jan. 31 at 10:17 a.m., I, Sgt. Kennedy, responded to a residence in the Shore Road area for a report of an unattended death. A 64-year-old woman had died in her home and was discovered by a family member.

On Jan. 31, I, Officer Gaudette, responded to a residence in the Ocean House Road area regarding an unwanted person en route to the complainant’s house. A high school student’s ex-boyfriend had told her on the phone that he was on his way to her home. After speaking with the complainant, I issued trespass warnings to her ex-boyfriend and one other. The girl was advised how to file for a protection order.

On Feb. 1 at about 1:50 p.m., I, Capt. Sinclair, spoke with an employee of a local daycare regarding a violation of a protection from abuse order. The father violated the order by looking at a rental home next door to the daycare. His son was inside the daycare when the daycare provider recognized the father and called the police.

On Jan. 31, I, Officer Gaudette, responded to the Bowery Beach Road area for a trespass complaint. The property manager had spotted three parked vehicles and seven teenagers hanging out partying. As a result, one juvenile was issued a summons for possession of marijuana.

On Feb. 3 at about 11:18 a.m., I, Patrolman Dyer, met with a resident of the Broad Cove area regarding the theft of an iPod. A male student had his $250 iPod stolen from his coat pocket while at the high school.

On Feb. 3 at about 6:10 p.m., I, Officer Gaudette, checked on a vehicle parked inside Fort Williams. As a result, the operator, Forrest Maynard, 33, of South Portland was issued a summons for Sale and Use of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Feb. 4, I, Officer Gaudette, received a wallet from a resident of the Scott Dyer Road area. It was found on Sawyer Road in the area of the Rod & Gun Club. Inside the wallet was a New York State photo license issued to a resident of Brooklyn, N.Y. Unable to obtain a telephone number for the owner, I left a message at the owner’s place of business.

On Feb. 4 at about 4:45 p.m., I, Patrolman Dyer, met with a resident of the Shore Road area regarding a possible identity theft. He stated that last Thursday, his wife opened their e-mail account and found a notice supposedly from PayPal asking her to follow a link. The link led her to a site that asked her for information, which could compromise her identity. She entered the site and gave her social security number and her mother’s maiden name. This scam perpetrated by use of fraudulently copied logos is aimed at accessing personal information for nefarious purposes. This scam is known as “Phishing.” The resident contacted the true PayPal site and three large credit reporting sites. He had them put a flag on the information to prevent illegal use of it.

On Feb. 4 at about 5:30 p.m. while on patrol westbound on the High School access road, I Sgt. Stiendl discovered damage to school property as a result of a hit-and-run accident. As the access road nears the school building (west bound) and the road turns to the left, a vehicle continued straight, ran off the road and over a newly planted tree. The vehicle also left deep ruts in the mud.

On Feb. 3 at about 9:27 a.m. I, Patrolman Dyer, responded to the high school regarding criminal mischief to a vehicle parked in the lot. The vehicle had been keyed. The perpetrator was caught using video surveillance. No charges were filed.

Summonses

Jan. 31

A male, 17, of Cape Elizabeth, was issued a summons on Bowery Beach Road for possession of marijuana.

Feb. 2

John J. Smith, 19, of 248 Ash St., Gorham was issued a summons on Route 77 for operating under the influence and violation of bail conditions.

Feb. 3

Richard Berman, 60, of Hannaford Cove Road, was issued a summons on Scott Dyer for speeding 34 in a 25 zone.

Arrests

Feb. 3

John J. Smith, 19, of 248 Ash St., Gorham, was arrested on a charge of criminal operating under the influence and violation of bail conditions.

Fire and Rescue

The Cape Elizabeth rescue responded to seven calls from Jan. 31 to Feb. 5. Four patients were transported to Maine Medical Center, two to Mercy Hospital and one required no transport.

The Cape Elizabeth Fire Department responded to a Portland call on Feb. 1 at 2:38 a.m.; an appliance fire on Scott Dyer Road on Feb. 2 at 5:08 p.m.; flooding on Patricia Drive on Feb. 2 at 10:38 p.m.
