Physical Education Teacher Betsy Gianetta of Pleasant Hill Elementary School, in Scarborough was presented the Jump Rope for Heart “Top New School of the Year” award for contributing $2,636 to fight heart disease and stroke.

Jump Rope for Heart is a program designed to promote physical fitness and heart health through the activity of jumping rope. It is co-sponsored by the American Heart Association and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.

Sue Nile, the Jump Rope for Heart program coordinator for the Maine Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance presented the award at a ceremony held Nov. 7 at the Samoset Resort in Rockland.
