Anniversary (PHOTO)
Merton and Catherine Johnson celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary September 11. They went out to dinner at the Ocean Gardens restaurant in Gorham with their sons and their wives, Walter and Sylvia Johnson and John and Joan Johnson. Also joining them were: her sister, Gladys Hill, granddaughter, Sandra Avery and great granddaughter, Sarah Avery.
Inservice Day
The Foster Grandparent program will hold an In-Service day September 29 at the Woodfords Congregational Church from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There are four in the foster grandparent program in Windham, two in the Manchester School and two in the Primary School.
Entertain
Linda and Tim Morrell entertained 11 relatives at their home on a recent Sunday. They came for what they have come to call over the years “Fall Day.” They came to pick some pumpkins, gourds and corn stalks. After the picking, they visited and enjoyed dessert and tea.
Veterans
The State of Maine Veterans Advocate, Robin Shepard, will be at the Veterans Center on Wednesday, Septembeer 28, from 9 to 11 a.m. He will assist veterans in applying for benefits. There is no charge and no appointment is needed.
Eastern States
Alan O’Brien was at Eastern States in Springfield, Massachusetts September 14-18. He was part of a four-person judging team from Maine, him being the only one from Cumberland County. The point of the trip was to learn how to judge animals, and the Maine team took first place. Alan is a member of the 4-H Cumberland County All-Star Dairy Club.
Birthday Party
There was a surprise birthday party for Mary Bouchard September 18 at Thatchers Restaurant. The party was organized by her daughter, Melissa Bailey. Those attending and enjoying a great meal were: her husband Bob, son-in-law Kevin Bailey and Melissa with daughter Cassidy; Rose and Foster Burke; siblings Connie and Jim Shepardson, Lori and Chuck Thayer, Sheila Cunningham, Joe Meyers with Dawn Brooks and Matthew; nieces Erica, Angela, Alyssa, Cassie and Chistine; friends Tammy and Kurt Brown and Shep and Monica Shepardson.
Casco Inn
Harry Lang is now residing at the Casco Inn and would enjoy seeing friends and receiving cards. The address is The Casco Inn, 434 Roosevelt Trail, Casco.
Meeting
The September 17 meeting of the Winnegance Chapter #119 Order of the Eastern Star was special because members celebrated their chapter’s 100th anniversary. The Windham Chapter has merged with this chapter. The meeting was held in Yarmouth at the Masonic Hall.
