The Compass Project announced the recent appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors, one of which is the president of a boatbuilding company in Raymond.

Christopher Evans, President and Chief Operating Officer of Sabre Yachts, joined the board for a three-year term. Sabre Yachts has been building sail and motor yachts for 35 years, and has manufacturing facilities in Raymond and a production shop for fiberglass hulls and decks in Rockland. Their sailing yacht, the Sabre 386, won Cruising World Magazine’s Overall Best Domestic Boat of the Year Award for 2005.

The Compass Project mission is to use boatbuilding and rowing to provide positive

direction to youth by encouraging the development of personal and community responsibility. The Compass Project, founded in 2002, uses experiential learning programs to integrate job and life skills training with boatbuilding and rowing to help youth stay in school and find new career directions.
