Friends of the Playground has been working hard this summer to address the many safety and maintenance issues that exist(ed) at Sheri Gagnon Memorial Park in Raymond.
Thanks to many volunteers, the group has accomplished a great deal. All wooden equipment was power-washed (graffiti eliminated), wood chips were replenished in all play areas, wooden structures were repaired and reinforced, a tetherball pole has been added, and the group will soon add two new John Deere woodhoes. We have also begun a great deal of staining and painting on the train, castle, plane, and playhouse. Unfortunately, the painting the group set out to accomplish has not happened as quickly as hoped, primarily because of rain on a scheduled work day in July.
To complete the painting and several other minor projects, the Friends are organizing a second work day for Saturday, Sept. 24 from 8 to 11 a.m. With enough people, the work should easily be completed within that time. Don’t forget to bring a paint brush.
