A Cumberland man was killed while driving through North Windham early Monday morning at about 2 a.m.
Christopher Devoe, 23, of 4 Forest Lane in West Cumberland, was driving a 1995 Chevrolet S-10 north on Route 115 near the intersection of Knox Street when he ran the truck off the road, struck an embankment and flipped the truck. Devoe was trapped inside and died at the scene before emergency personnel could attend to him.
“We’re not sure why he left the road. That’s being looked at. We just don’t know. He may have fallen asleep. When you look at it, that’s what looks like happened. But no one saw it. He could have been distracted. We just don’t know. We’re still investigating,” Windham Lt. David DeGruchy said.
A resident who heard the crash called the accident in.
At the time of the crash, the roads were wet and no skid marks were seen, DeGruchy said.
