Foster Grandparents
There was an in-service held for the foster grandparents program at the Windham Public Library on August 17. Windham has four people in the program, two at the Manchester School and two at the Primary School.
Candy Sales
Members of the Great Council of Maine Degree of Pocahontas sold candy bars on August 13. This is a project for their Alzheimer’s program. Several members from Windham helped with the project at the Shaw’s supermarket in Scarborough.
Birthday
Beulah Mason celebrated her birthday on August 13. Her son, George, was here for five days prior to her birthday. He and his sister, Darlene, did some work around the house for her.
Veterans
The State of Maine Veterans Advocate will be at the Windham Veterans Center from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 24. This will be to assist Veterans in applying for benefits. There is no service charge and no appointment is necessary.
Open House
On Monday, August 22nd, the Windham Historical Society will hold their annual Open House at the Old Grocery, following the regular 7 p.m. meeting which will be at the headquarters in the old town house on Windham Center Road. The public is invited to attend, come to the meeting and after a brief business meeting, they will adjourn and go to the Old Grocery to see all the wonderful displays including: furniture, household items, a cream separator, an antique cane-seated wheelchair and even the horse-drawn town hearse. The Old Grocery is located across from Corsetti’s.
To Cupsuptic
Some ladies who work in Town Hall, Linda, Judy and Carol from the Town Clerk’s Office, Joan from Assessing and Rene from the Code Enforcement recently spent the weekend in Cupsuptic. They went to visit retired Town Clerk Rita Bernier and her husband, Dick. They played games and used the paddle boat and kayaks. They all enjoyed a lobster feed and had a great time.
