What do you think of loud motorcycles?

Mark Daigle, 35, Windham

“Loud pipes saves lives. I rode all kinds of motorcycles and a lot of times people don’t see motorcyclists. So, if they hear them, that will make them more noticeable.”

Mary Rindfleisch, 42, Gray

“I agree that they should put new, quieter muffler systems on the motorcycles. We’ve got one guy that tears up and down our road at 10 p.m. every night. It’s just irritating. Some motorcycles are nice, though. I have friends that have them.”

Melissa Elwell, 25, Buxton

“I think that they’re acceptable during the daytime hours but not at night when you’re trying to sleep. They can be obnoxious. But in some cases they’re kind of macho. If I had a motorcycle, I’d want a loud muffler.”

Garfield Olmstead, 87, Gray

“I don’t like those noisy bikes at all. I live on a busy road and I hate those things screeching down the road. But it’s my fault, I moved in there and I have to live with it.”

Bob Jones, 66, Raymond

“I don’t like it because the younger drivers really abuse it especially on residential streets. In a residential area when the speed limit is 25 mph loud noise isn’t necessary.”

Vicky Campbell, 51, Hiram

“If it’s a single bike or a few, it’s not too bad. Groups of five or more can be annoying. Laconia Bike Week can get annoying, too. But they’re having fun I guess.”
