On July 29 and 30 starting at 7 p.m., Kelly Caufield, Bryan McLeod, Matthew Blake Small and Daniel Strange will once again make Windham Hill sing for the fifth “Night of Broadway” at Windham Hill United Church of Christ. The last time these four performed together, people had to be turned away.
Daniel Strange, a musician who is well known in the area, directs and produces the show, in addition to performing. Strange says the show is a mix of old favorites and pieces from newer shows, as well as solos, duets and ensemble numbers. He is a 2001 Windham High School graduate and he has won many awards as a jazz pianist. Strange is presently Director of Music Ministries at West Scarborough United Methodist Church and is a senior majoring in Jazz Piano Performance at USM.
Kelly Caufield has been a featured soloist in the Portland Symphony Orchestra’s Richard Rogers Tribute and with the North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra. Kelly has had leading roles with Good Theater, the theater-in-residence at the St. Lawrence Arts Center in Portland; the Boothbay Opera House; Portland Players and USM.
Bryan McLeod has performed all five years for NOB. Bryan graduated from Lawrence University, which has one of the best undergraduate music conservatories in the country, with a Voice Performance and History double major. He has performed in three operas with PORT.
Matthew Small returns to his hometown for a fourth year with Music on the Hill. Credits include: Cabaret (Emcee) Tommy (Tommy), …Forum (Hero), The Memorandum (Ballas), Bent (Greta), 1776 (Courier), NYC Gay Men’s Chorus, The Maine Steiners, Point Sebago Revue, Windham Chamber Singers.
Betty McIntyre, accompanist for “Night of Broadway,” is the director of the Windham High School band and the 5th grade beginner band. Ms. McIntyre has played in many area productions.
