Tournament ends tennis program
A three-week summer tennis program, sponsored by the Gorham Recreation Department, ended on Friday with a tournament at the Gorham High School courts.
Sonja Frey, who directed the tennis program, said there were 47 matches in the tournament for ages between 7 and 15 and another 55 in the Little Lobbers Division for 4 to 7 year olds.
Summer events at Baxter
The Summer Sewing & Craft Club meets from 10 to 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, July 20, at Baxter Memorial Library, 71 South St. Children entering grades three through six are invited to join us for our summer sewing and craft hour.
The evening family story time will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, at the library.

Durgin earns degree
Jennifer Durgin was awarded a bachelor of science degree in May at Springfield College in Springfield, Mass.
Marsters training with guard
Carlie J. Marsters, a member of the 133rd Engineer Battalion of the Maine National Guard, is taking basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
Marsters, who is an elementary education major at the University of Maine at Farmington, was named to the dean’s list for her junior year. She is the daughter of Fred and Regina Marsters of 58 Brackett Road.
Class of ’75 plans reunion
The Gorham High School class of 1975 is having its 30th reunion from 6 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Sheraton Hotel in South Portland.
The reunion committee is trying to locate Timothy J. Brown, Dana C. Fearing, Clayton A. Huff Jr., Mark D. Labrecque, Katherine (Hethcoat) Morrill, Judith (Mobary) Oelfke, David W. Smith, Susan (Eastman) Beebe, Denise (Hamblen) Kuntz, Lincoln Hawkes, Sean Kelley and Jeffrey Serfes.

Free ecumenical dinner
The Gorham Ecumenical Commission will host its free monthly community dinner at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 25, at the First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St.
The gathering offers fellowship and friendship to all members of the community.
Gazebo concert
The Invitations will play in a free concert from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, at the gazebo at the Municipal Center on Main Street. It’s part of a summer concert series sponsored by the Gorham Recreation Department.
Indoor yard sale
Barbara Griffin announced an indoor yard sale 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, in the North Scarborough Grange Hall on County Road (Route 22), North Scarborough. Items will include baked goods.
Fifty years ago
The Westbrook American reported in its issue of Wednesday, July 20, 1955, that Addie Moses Manchester of North Gorham was honored by relatives and friends the previous week on her 83rd birthday.
