Charles Cornwell serves cake after being sworn in as the new Steep Falls postmaster on Wednesday. A small crowd gathered on the front lawn outside the post office to witness Cornwell take his oath of office, administered by Regina Bugbee, manager of post office operations for the U.S. Postal Service District of Maine. Cornwell, whose postal service career spans 20 years, and his wife, Betsy, plan on moving to Steep Falls from their current home in Andover, Maine, where he also served as postmaster.
