Four area students received Standish Kiwanis Club scholarships at a dinner held in their honor last Wednesday. From left are Melissa Verrill, 18, of Hiram; Elaine Ritter, 17, of Standish; Kiwanis Club member, Paul Mosley; Kristen Willard, 18, of Limington; and Katie Brooks, 18, of Standish. Verrill, who graduated from Sacopee Valley High School, and each of the other three recipients, all graduates of Bonny Eagle High School, were awarded $1,000 apiece. New this year, and originally valued at only $500, is the scholarship for the Sacopee Valley student. The Kiwanis Club was able to increase the amount because of generous contributions to their Bonny Eagle Academic Achievement Awards Breakfast from both Hannaford and Shaw’s Supermarkets, and from Mr. Bagel.
