On Monday, June 6, the Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce held its 5th Annual Golf Tournament to raise funds for the Scholarship Program that awards six scholarships to local students including four traditional awards to local high schools: Windham High School, Bonny Eagle High School, Gray-New Gloucester High School and Lakes Region Technical High School, along with two non-traditional awards to students who are currently in the business community and are returning to school to complete a degree or certification program. The goal of these awards is to provide a $1,000 scholarship to a student who plans to further their education and return to the Lakes Region to start a business or work for a current business in the communities served by the SLRCC. In addition, donations will be made to local charities and support programs for area tourism programs of the Chamber.

Through the generosity of our local business members the events of the day are hosted through a series of Sponsorship Programs that provide many amenities for the business and teams that play 18 holes of golf at a local Chamber member golf course. This year’s event was held at Point Sebago and despite the overcast and misty start at noon, 31 teams headed onto the course to engage in an afternoon of networking, socializing, winning events such as closest to the pin, high gross scoring, low gross net, and even had a chance for $1 million in the ever-popular “Million Dollar Shootout!” Following the five-hour event, the SLRCC provided a barbeque and awards event for all of the teams.

A sincere “thank you” is extended to the following Corporate Sponsors of the Chamber:

Signature Sponsor – Norway Savings Bank

Silver Sponsors – Dyke Associates, Mechanics Savings Bank, Northeast Bank
