New town office question is back on the ballot in Kennebunkport

After the proposal for a new office failed at the polls in 2023, voters will have the opportunity to approve a new location.

One mayoral challenger and one School Committee candidate were told they did not have enough valid signatures to be put on the ballot.

The candidates competing for three Town Council seats and two School Committee seats at the Nov. 4 election.

The trimmed-down $61.7 million proposal failed at the polls last week, sending RSU 21 into the new school year with the budget in limbo.

The $26 million bond would support state-mandated sewer separation and Parks and Recreation upgrades.

The deadline for submitting completed nomination papers is Sept. 5.

The council race has begun with three months until the election.

Liam LaFountain announced his run for mayor over the weekend.

As the result of a petition, the fate of the regulatory ordinance will be decided in a referendum this fall.

Councilor Norman Belanger announced his bid for mayor, running against incumbent Martin Grohman in the November election.
