The latest package of U.S. military assistance was the biggest to date for Kyiv. For the first time, it included Bradley armored vehicles – known as tank-killers because of the anti-tank missiles they fire.

Kyiv has been pressing the U.S. for tanks, longer-range missiles, armor and air defense systems.

It was one of the deadliest attacks on the Kremlin’s forces since the war began more than 10 months ago.

Ukrainian officials allege Moscow is deliberately targeting civilians and critical infrastructure to create a climate of fear.

In his nightly address Friday, Zelensky said air defense will become “stronger” and “more effective” in the new year, and he underscored the need for a clear energy strategy.

Ukraine is investigating over 58,000 killings, kidnappings, indiscriminate bombings and sexual assaults but most perpetrators are unlikely to be arrested.
