Subject of silver alert found safe

Frank Van Soeren, 67, of Rangeley Plantation, had last been seen in Farmington on Thursday.

Ernest Van Soeren was last seen Monday morning near his home in Rangeley Plantation.

Police say the man, accused of fatally shooting his brother last year, had a rifle and ballistic vest when he was confronted by a trooper.

Eric Werthman, 81, had gone to the lake to swim, and his wife found him face down in the water.

Eric Mond, 47, of Dubuque is listed in critical condition Tuesday at Central Maine Medical Center.

Two canoes capsized with two people in each one and only one life jacket between them, Fire Rescue Capt. Jonny Wakefield said.
