The gesture by Walmart Logistics is certain to be appreciated by local families and social service agencies in Androscoggin County.

Organizers see a record number of requests for gifts for children being cared for by relatives.

Last year, the fund raised $159,998, which provided gifts to 3,603 Maine children. This year, organizers hope to raise $200,000.

Volunteers express their gratitude and enthusiasm for the chance to help  ’the little ones of Maine.’

This year’s 31-day raffle brings in $1,700 to fund gifts for children.

Now in a position to give back, a Midwest family contributes $500.
