State confirms sighting of great white shark off Bailey Island, urges caution in wake of fatal attack
The Maine Marine Patrol received a photo of the shark from a drone operator who made the sighting near Pond Island Ledges on Friday. Swimmers and paddlers are advised to be extra cautious around seals and schools of fish.

Swimmers at Popham Beach State Park are restricted to ankle-deep water after lifeguards reported a possible shark sighting Wednesday.
