A sheriff’s office in Texas says 9 teenagers were shot in a home at a prom after-party attended by hundreds.

Only 2009 was marked by as many such tragedies in the same period of time.

Andrew D. Lester, 84, shot 16-year-old Ralph Yarl twice – including once in the head – when Yarl accidentally went to the wrong house while trying to pick up his younger brothers.

The case is among three in recent days involving young people who were shot after mistakenly showing up in the wrong places.
