Steve Moriarty wins third term in House District 45

Moriarty, a Democrat from Cumberland, faced a challenge from Republican Mike Timmons, also from Cumberland, in his bid for reelection.

Daughtry had about two-thirds of the vote, with 18,044 votes to Pattershall’s 9,301.

The district includes Durham, North Yarmouth and Pownal.

Polling places in Yarmouth, Falmouth, Freeport see a large wave of voters when doors open, and a slow but steady flow as the morning progresses.

The district includes the towns of Yarmouth, Chebeague Island and Long Island.

The art can be found on banners along Congress Street and on buildings across the city.

The group, formed in September, is tasked with looking into how residents of color are impacted by the role law enforcement plays in the city.

Mark Dion won a four-way race for the District 5 council seat and Jeffrey Irish beat Anthony Emerson for the District 5 seat on the school board.

Voter turnout is expected to far exceed the November 2016 presidential election, which included close to 39,000 voters.
